Neos resumes air operations to Varadero
The Italian airline Neos is returning this month to Varadero’s Juan Gualberto Gómez International Airport, after a two-and-a-half-year pause in operations due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Once operations resume, Neos will be the 15th airline that flies to the Varadero airport, joining the Polish Lot, the British Thompson, the Russian Nordwind and others from Honduras, Germany and the Dominican Republic.
For its part, Varadero will join Havana, Holguín and Cayo Largo del Sur to complete the quartet of Cuban destinations to which Neos flies in this tourist season (November-April), a period in which Cuba receives higher flows of foreign visitors. At the end of October, 1,198,402 international visitors had arrived in Cuba, 31,558 of them from Italy, which is the ninth source market for the archipelago, preceded by Canada, the Cuban community abroad, the United States, Spain, Germany, Russia, UK and France.

Salsa Festival 2023 to be held in Havana
The Salsa Festival will have Club 500 in the Cuban capital as its main venue and its program includes dance workshops, DJ presentations, a tour of Old Havana, after-party sessions at the Casa de la Música in Miramar and the awaited concerts.
Among the bands that will perform are Los Van Van, Pupy y los que son Son, Alexander Abreu y Havana D’Primera, Maykel Blanco y su Salsa Mayor, Paulo FG y su Elite and Isaac Delgado, among others. Groups from the new generation such as El Niño y la Verdad, and El Noro y Primera Clase, Yasser Ramos y su Tumbao, Monika Mesa and many more will also perform.
The Salsa Festival, created by Cuban musician Maykel Blanco, is sponsored by the cultural tourism agency Paradiso and the Artex art promotion company. For those who wish to enjoy good danceable music, tourist packages have been designed and are available at agencies such as Paradiso and Havanatur.

Reanima el Café de la Esquina las propuestas culinarias de La Habana
18 jun. En la capital de Cuba, poco a poco la vida comienza a entrar en la llamada “nueva normalidad” tras la pandemia de COVID-19 y su eficiente control por parte de las autoridades de esta isla. Así, numerosos comercios y establecimientos ya reabren sus puertas para recibir con alegría a sus primeros clientes. Entre ellos, destacan las propuestas gastronómicas de altísima calidad, y una de ellas la presenta el Café de La Esquina, ubicado donde se unen las calles Paseo y 5ta. en la barriada del Vedado, a pocos metros del Malecón habanero.
Con una propuesta variada y una ambientación sencilla, que incorpora la vegetación para crear un ambiente muy singular, el Café de La Esquina renace en la actualidad gastronómica de la ciudad. Desde que abre sus puertas en la mañana, hasta que las cierra en la noche, es habitual ver el ir y venir de los comensales, ya sea haciendo una pausa del trabajo para saborear un café, o junto a un grupo de amigos, o sencillamente como parte de un paseo en familia. Ya sea en las mesas de su espacio interior o en la muy agradable terraza, siempre hay un sitio para usted.
Para almuerzos y comidas encontrará una carta Menú muy sugerente, pues su chef italiano ha traído a La Habana la mezcla de sabores que han hecho del Mediterráneo la cuna de una gastronomía con seguidores en todo el mundo. Así nos propone los Picos, a partir de una base de pizza, que podrá pedir con el relleno de su preferencia. Sus nombres nos van sugiriendo su interior encontramos el Margarita, el Clásico, el Pescador (queso, atún, col salteada con cebolla y aceitunas negras), el Del Sur (queso, salchicha italiana, alcaparra y berenjena salteada), Thai (queso, pollo al curry, cebolla, pasas y acelgas salteadas), el 4 Quesos, el del Bosque (queso, jamón y champiñones), el Ibérico y el Mediterráneo (queso y camarones enchilados). De manera especial le recomendamos el Pico La Esquina, relleno con queso, ropa vieja y plátano maduro frito, una verdadera delicia con toques cubanos, que lleva el sello de la casa y que no se debe perder.
Otros platos que lo harán volver a La Esquina son las Bambinas,con base de pizza en forma de sándwich y rellenos similares a los Picos; y los Rollos, que llegan con rellenos muy sugerentes: el Criollo (con lechón asado con mojo criollo y queso), el Habanero (con frijoles negros, picadillo a la habanera y queso) y el Vegetariano (elaborado con una masa de pizza integral y relleno de berenjena, acelga, champiñones, cebolla, queso y toques de salsa pesto).
Los amantes de las ensaladas, aquí las encontrarán de “talla extra”, pues las llamadas Ensaladonas de Estación lo invitarán a mezclar los vegetales con el ingrediente de su preferencia: jamón serrano, atún, pollo o camarones, siempre acompañados de las focaccinas crujientes y aliñadas a su gusto. La Ensalada Caprese de La Esquina nos propone una variación, al combinar el tomate fresco con queso de cabra, albahaca y aceite de oliva. Por su parte, el Carpaccio de filete de res, los Rollitos de Salmón y la Pasta del día aportan variedad al menú.
Mención especial merece la Tabla de la Casa, que incluye una selección de quesos, jamón serrano, frutos secos y vegetales, acompañados de focaccinas y presentados de manera muy simpática, con una porción de miel, para quienes deseen contrastar los sabores salado y dulce.
En cuanto a las bebidas, junto a refrescos y cervezas se ofrece una cuidada variedad de cocteles cubanos e internacionales, rones, whiskies, tequilas, vodkas y licores. Al final de su comida, no olvide pedir un aromático café cubano, a la manera su preferencia.
Para el final ha quedado uno de los ingredientes más importantes del Café de la Esquina: un equipo de profesionales en el arte de complacer, que desde la cocina hasta el salón, son ese puente que conecta al comensal con las interesantes propuestas de la casa. Ellos lo acompañarán del inicio al fin de su estancia y le harán sugerencias que seguramente apreciará.
